NICK SCHIFRIN w/ JAKE SULLIVAN
Working on short notice, I served as second DP and camera operator for PBS NewsHour's high-profile interview with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in the historic Eisenhower Executive Office Building. Operating one of three Sony cinema cameras (two FX9s with 70-200mm f2.8 G Master glass and an FX3 with 24-70mm f2.8), I crafted composed shots of host Nick Schifrin while navigating the challenges of a confined conference room dominated by a large table. The demanding White House security protocols required streamlined equipment choices, prompting creative technical solutions. I also stepped in to handle audio responsibilities when needed, demonstrating adaptability in a high-pressure environment. Our team overcame variable lighting conditions from prominent windows while maintaining the dignified aesthetic appropriate for this presidential farewell coverage. With minimal setup time, we delivered broadcast-quality footage that appeared on PBS national programming and their digital platforms. The resulting interview successfully balanced technical precision with the gravitas of the location and subject matter.
